India is a very interesting country. It has unique cultures, amazing landmarks, and fun holidays. Let’s learn about this fascinating place!
India is one of the largest countries located in Southern Asia. India’s current population is 1.3 billion, which is four times larger than America. There are 29 states in India, and the capital is New Delhi. They speak 720 languages but the national language is Hindi. There are 9 religions practiced in India, but the majority is Hinduism. Just like America, each part of India is unique and special.
Some famous landmarks in India are the Ganges River and the Taj Mahal. The Ganges flows 1,569 miles starting from the Himalayan Mountains. It is the third largest river in the world. The Taj Mahal is one of the most famous landmarks of India. It is located in Agra and is made of ivory-white marble. Every year, 7,000,000 people visit the beautiful Taj Mahal!
My favorite two holidays are Holi and Diwali. Holi, the festival of colors, represents good conquering evil. Every Spring, we have fun throwing colored powder on friends and family. Diwali is known as the festival of lights. Diwali is the largest, most famous festival celebrated in India and marks the Hindu New Year. We light lamps all over the house, exchange presents, and light fireworks with friends and family. This year, tomorrow is Diwali!
I hope you learned a lot about the amazing India and you get a chance to visit someday.
